FT - WBA 1-2 West Ham United

WEST BROMWICH ALBION v WEST HAM UNITED
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
THE HAWTHORNS
TUESDAY 2 DECEMBER 2014
KICK-OFF: 8PM
REFEREE: MIKE JONES

Final score: West Bromwich Albion 1-2 West Ham United

FT: The Irons had to dig deep after the break to make sure of victory but they did enough after falling behind early on to make it two wins in a row. Goals from Kevin Nolan and James Tomkins winning it for the Londoners, who stay fifth! We'll have reaction to come on whufc.com

90+4: Dawson slams a volley wide and surely that's it.

90+2: Foster's up, but again West Ham clear. Two minutes left...

90+1: West Brom win a corner in the first of them and Adrian has to punch clear. Now another corner...

90: Four minutes of added time to see out...

85: Good save Adrian. The Hammers are living dangerously and Adrian has to block with his feet after Anichebe turns well and drills goalwards. Dorrans then sends an effort inches wide.

83: West Brom make their third and final substitution, with Brown Ideye coming on for Chris Baird.

82: Anichebe's power is still causing problems and he turns away from Tomkins on the edge of the box, but his shot is half blocked and Adrian can control before picking up.

78: Big Sam opts to make his final change of the night, with Carlton Cole coming on for Mauro Zarate.

76: West Brom win a corner on the right and Dorrans plays it short for Wisdom. His ball in isn't the best, but the Hammers can't cut it out and the eventual shot needs a block before it reaches Adrian.

74: Sub Varela is a lively presence, and he beats Jenkinson to cross from the left. Sessegnon gets up to head goalwards, but it's a weak effort and Adrian saves.

72: The Hammers aren't keeping the ball as well as they could at the moment and Baird slams wide from the edge of the area.

70: West Brom have definitely got better this half and Anichebe does well to spin away in mdfield and then shoot for goal, but he slices the effort and that doesn't trouble the Hammers. Then, when the ball comes back into midfield, Sessegnon flies into a tackle and is booked.

68: The Baggies' new boy Varela finds space in the left hand side of the box and shoots for goal twice, only to be denied by two flying blocks from Jenkinson and Tomkins. Fine defending.

65: West Brom also make a change, with Varela replacing Gardner. West Ham reorganise themselves, with Collins slotting into a back three alongside Reid and Tomkins.

64: This game isn't won yet and Adrian has to get down very sharply down by his near post, to divert Anichebe's powerful shot over with a strong wrist. The Hammers will make a couple of changes too, with Amalfitano and Carroll coming off to be replaced by Collins and Valencia.

62: It's that threat from set plays again as Dorrans delivers from the right. The ball bounces around the box and falls to Berahino, whose shot is half blocked before running through to Adrian.

59: Andy Carroll is putting a real shift in and he retreats all the way to the edge of his own box to make a good tackle on Anichebe to help his team out. Great play from the No9.

55: Referee Mike Jones calls Andy Carroll over to him for a chat after the No9 commits a couple of fouls in as many minutes. No card is produced though.

53: Big, big chance for Dawson. That really should have been the equaliser. Both centre halves are up for a set piece and Lescott heads back across goal for Dawson, who slams wide. If he had hit the target surely that would have been 2-2.

49: No changes were made at the break by either team and we're waiting for the first true goalmouth action of the second period still, although Berahino has just tried his luck with a shot which has flown a long way over the top.

9.03pm We're back underway for the second period. Come on you Irons!

HT: West Bromwich Albion 1-2 West Ham United. It didn't start very well, but that first half certainly ended in positive fashion for the visitors. They recovered from a poor start, during which Craig Dawson headed the Baggies into the lead, to eventually take a grip on the contest and turn it around. Nolan poached a leveller after Carroll's overhead kick was saved on the line by Foster. Then, in added time, Tomkins rose magnificently to head home. 2-1 at the break.

45+3: GOAL! What a turnaround! Downing delivers the corner and Tomkins rises above Dawson to send a thumping header beyond Foster. 2-1!

45+2: Close! Kouyate has Foster scrambling across his goal with a curling effort that was bound for the bottom right corner. Good hit and good save.

45: Brunt seems to have hurt himself and that's going to be the end of his evening. Mulumbu will be the player who replaces him. Meanwhile, two minutes of added time have been signalled.

41: The Baggies are showing signs of coming back to life after West Ham's equaliser and both Berahino and Gardner have shots blocked from the edge of the box.

39: Berahino tries his luck from outside the area but it's a wayward effort and Adrian isn't worried by that.

37: Kouyate is penalised for a tug on Anichebe by the left hand corner flag and once again it's a good set piece delivery from the hosts. Dorrans curls goalwards and the Hammers have to stand strong to poke clear. A reminder that it's not a good idea to give away set pieces around the box with West Brom's delivery.

36: It's fair to say this half has got better for the Hammers as it has gone along! That was some overhead kick from Carrol to set up Nolan's goal. Great athleticism from the big No9 and a typically predatory finish from Nolan.

34: GOAL! And that foul leads to an equaliser! Downing delivers the free kick into the area, Tomkins heads back towards goal, Carroll volleys acrobatically, Foster saves and Nolan pounces to head home.

33: Chris Brunt goes into the book for bringing down Kevin Nolan inside the Baggies half.

30: West Ham are keeping their foot on the pedal and after nicking the ball in midfield, they release Zarate down the right. He crosses low looking towards Carroll, but a West Brom foot gets in the way.

27: As West Ham's confidence grows, a sense of edginess is gathering at the Hawthorns - despite their team's strong start to the game.

23: The Hammers are certainly beginning to gain a foothold in the contest and Downing delivers well into the area. Carroll heads down to Amalfitano, but Dawson does well up against him to guide the ball back to Foster.

21: This is better. Zarate picks up the ball on the edge of the box and after his initial shot is blocked, he fires goalwards again with venom, but straight at Foster, who gathers.

20: The corner comes in, with Tomkins affecting the first header. Nolan's bicycle kick is then blocked on the line by Foster, and then the No4 and Kouyate try to force the ball over the line, but to no avail and West Brom escape.

19: West Ham go go close for the first time for the first time as Nolan feeds the ball out to Jenkinson, whose low cross is flicked goalwards by Amalfitano, taking a touch on its way wide.

18: The referee plays a good advantage after Tomkins upends Anichebe in the middle of the mark. West Brom continue their move and Dorrans shoots high and wide from range.

15: West Ham try to keep some possession to emerge from their slow start, but Downing's sweeping pass out to Jenkinson bounces up and over the right back, giving West Brom a throw-in.

11: West Ham haven't started here yet and they will be disappointed to be behind so early, particularly to a set play. Plenty of time remains, however, to get themselves back in the contest.

10: Goal! It was a dangerous area. Gardner delivers with his right foot, curling the ball towards the six yard box and Dawson gets up to glance his header home.

9: James Tomkins fouls Anichibe on the left hand corner of the box and West Brom have a free kick in a dangerous area.

7: Half a chance for Anichebe as a long free kick drops in the Hammers box. Anichebe strikes, but Reid blocks behind for a corner. The Baggies play it short and cause a bit of panic inside the box, but Adrian claws away and again West Ham emerge unscathed. Brunt's set piece delivery looks dangerous though so West Ham will not want to give away too many opportunities around their area.

5: West Brom force the first corner of the game as again Berahino goes on a foraging run inside the box. He lays off to Anichebe, whose cross nicks off a head and goes behind. Brunt's delivery is a decent one, but Reid jumps with Dawson and the Hammers clear.

2: West Brom go on to the attack with Berahino cutting in from the left hand side. He passes inside looking for Anichebe, but Adrian is alert to the danger and comes off his line to pick up.

1: Kouyate looks to hit Carroll with a diagonal ball as the Hammers look forward for the first time, but Lescott jumps with him and West Brom come away with the ball.

8pm The pre-match formalities are done and we're off. Come on you Irons!

7.57pm The Hammers are in their usual claret and blue this evening, with the hosts in predominately white with navy blue.
