Harney tastes Milk Cup glory

Academy defender Jamie Harney skippered Northern Ireland U19 to Dale Farm Milk Cup glory on Friday, when a 1-0 win over Canada in their final group game confirmed their success.

Following a 2-0 win over China, and a 2-1 victory in an ill-tempered clash with Mexico, Northern Ireland merely needed to avoid defeat when they took on Canada to lift the title.

They went one better, as Aaron McEneff's penalty gave them three points and a perfect nine from nine for the week.

SImon Hanna was sent off in the second half to give Canada hope, but the hosts stood firm to claim the result their needed.

Meanwhile, Hammers defender Reece Oxford played as England U17s' Nordic Tournament ended with the Young Lions in fourth place.

Following a defeat to Sweden on Thursday, England took on Denmark for third position on Saturday, but a penalty from Nicklas Rojkjaer was enough to secure a 1-0 win for the Danes.

Fellow Hammer Vashon Neufville has also been involved during the week, and he helped England defeat Iceland to open the tournament.
