Introduction

• West Ham make the short trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday looking to record their first Barclays Premier League win since the opening day success against Cardiff City.

• Following defeat to Hull City last weekend the Hammers have taken five points from six games and sit 17th in the table.

• There are however only four teams who have conceded fewer goals than the five let in by Sam Allardyce's team so far.

• Jussi Jaaskelainen has kept three clean sheets already this season, bettered only by Southampton's Artur Boruc and Tottenham's Hugo Lloris who each have four.

• The Frenchman has let in just two goals as Spurs head into Sunday's match having won four of their six games.

• Andre Villas Boas' team have suffered one defeat so far when London rivals Arsenal triumphed 1-0 at the Emirates.

• Jack Collison and Stephen Henderson are unavailable having recently completed short-term loan moves to Bournemouth meanwhile Jordan Spence is back at the club after completing a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.

• Joe Cole is in contention to start having recovered from a groin injury.

• Stewart Downing could be handed a start after featuring from the bench against Hull last weekend.

• Andy Carroll and Alou Diarra remain absent through injury.

• Younes Kaboul will miss the game after picking up a knee injury in the Europa League win over Anzhi Makhachkala.

• Aaron Lennon, Danny Rose and Etienne Capoue will not return to first team action until after the international break.

Previous meeting

Gareth Bale's stunning last minute winner snatched all three points for Spurs in a pulsating encounter at the Boleyn Ground. The Hammers had cancelled out Bale's first goal with strikes of their own from Andy Carroll and Joe Cole. Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised with 14 minutes left before Bale broke Hammers hearts just moments from the final whistle on the night which marked the 20th anniversary of Bobby Moore's death.

• Probert began his career as a referee in the Conference South before making the step up to the Football League in 1998. He was an assistant referee for five years and was promoted to the list of referees in 2003.

• Prior to being elevated to the top flight in the 2007/08 season, Probert was in charge of a League One play-off semi-final clash between Northampton Town and Torquay United.

• He has refereed the 2010 FA Trophy Final and was fourth official for the 2011 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke City.

• In 2010, he became a FIFA-listed referee and is now eligible to officiate UEFA Internationals and matches in the Champions League and Europa League.
