Ladies held by Lionesses

West Ham United Ladies were held to a goalless FA Women's Premier League Southern Division draw by Millwall Lionesses on Sunday.

The Hammers went into the match knowing victory would close the gap between themselves and leaders Millwall to just five points - with West Ham also having a game in-hand on their south London rivals.

However, despite creating a succession of chances at Thurrock FC and forcing the Millwall goalkeeper to make a host of saves, Julia Setford's team could not find a goal to secure all three points.

At the back, West Ham kept their seventh clean sheet in ten league matches. The Hammers have conceded just four goals in those ten games and have by far the best defensive record in the division

With eight league matches still to play, including two against traditional rivals Colchester United, the Ladies retain a chance of catching Millwall and winning the title. However, Setford and her players know they need to return to winning ways when they host Colchester at Ship Lane on Sunday 17 March, when kick-off will be at 2pm.
