Adrian San Miguel del Castillo, more commonly known as Adrian, is an imposing 6'3 shot stopper who has spent virtually his entire career with his hometown club, enjoying an outstanding 2012/13 season in the Spanish top flight.

The 26-year-old joined the Hammers on 1July following the expiration of his contract with Primera Division side Real Betis Balompie. He has signed an initial three-year deal, with the Club having an option to extend this for a further two seasons.

2014/15

Retained his No1 position between the posts at the start of the campaign...Kept his first clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 win over QPR on 5 October 2014.

2013/14

Made his West Ham United debut in the 2-1 Capital One Cup win over Cheltenham Town on 27 August 2013...Played in the 3-2 Capital One Cup win over Cardiff City on 24 September 2013...Kept a clean sheet as the Hammers defeated Burnley 2-0 on 29 October 2013, and featured again as the Hammers progressed to the semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur on 18 December 2013...Made his Barclays Premier League debut at Manchester United in a 3-1 defeat three days later...Kept his first clean sheet in the top flight in the 2-0 win at Cardiff City on 11 January 2014....Followed that up with two more shut-outs that month, against Chelsea and Swansea City...Was the Hammers' Player of the Month for January and February...Picked up a hat-trick of awards at the end of the season, being named Hammers Signing of the Season as well as picking up the Best Individual Performance prize for Chelsea away, and Best Save, for his fingertip effort from Oscar in the same game.

Before West Ham

After joining Real Betis at the age of ten, Adrian started his professional career with the club's C team in the Andalusia Premier Division. He then made more than 70 appearances for Betis B in the Segunda Division B Group 4, the regional third tier of Spanish football.

Adrian was loaned out to Segunda Division B clubs SD Alcala in 2008 and Andalusia Premier division club CD Utrera in 2009 before being promoted to the Betis senior squad in 2011/12 as third choice behind the experienced Casto and Fabri.

When Casto was sent-off at Malaga in September 2012, Adrian stepped off the bench and never looked back, starting each of Betis' next 31 league matches and producing a succession of impressive performances

A tally of eleven clean sheets in 31 league starts helped Betis to finish the 2012/13 season in seventh place in Spain's top flight, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

Adrian's athleticism helped Betis to achieve a nuber of superb victories including clean sheets in home wins over Real Madrid, Malaga, Valencia and Real Sociedad. Special acclaim must be awarded to his Man of the Match performance in the 1-0 home victory over Real Madrid in November 2012.
