Dev Squad hope it's third-time lucky!

West Ham United's Development Squad are hoping it is a case of third-time lucky on Monday.

The Hammers have seen their opening two Barclays U21 Premier League Elite Group Stage fixtures at Manchester United and at home to Liverpool postponed due to the recent cold weather.

Now, Nick Haycock and his players are hoping the weekend thaw allows Monday's fixture at Arsenal to go ahead as planned.

Haycock, who took charge of his first Development Squad fixture at Norwich City before Christmas following his promotion from Under-18s manager, will have two new forwards to call upon at the Gunners' London Colney training complex.

Wellington Paulista and Sean Maguire are set to make their first appearances in a claret and blue shirt after arriving from Brazilian side Cruzeiro and Irish club Waterford United respectively.

Goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel, defender Jordan Spence, midfielders Matthias Fanimo, Sebastian Lletget and George Moncur and striker Elliot Lee have all been involved in the first-team squad this season and will hope to impress against Arsenal.

West Ham have already beaten the Gunners twice at U21 level this season, scoring a 4-1 home win and 2-1 away victory over the north London side in the pre-Christmas group stage. Fanimo scored in the home success on 21 September.

Kick-off at London Colney is at 1pm and, with the game behind played behind closed doors, whufc.com will have exclusive live text coverage of the game. West Ham TV will have highlights and post-match reaction.

*Modibo Maiga's Mali take on DR Congo on Monday in their final Group B fixture at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Mali have collected three points from two games played so far and know a victory will take them through to the quarter-finals. Kick-off is at 5pm UK time, with the match being screened live on British Eurosport 2.
