West Ham United 2-0 Liverpool
18 December 1976
West Ham were bottom of Division One when they welcomed reigning champions Liverpool to the Boleyn Ground on this day 37 years ago.
Despite the odds being firmly stacked in the visitors favour, goals from Trevor Brooking and Billy Jennings sent the home fans happy with a well-deserved victory to toast.
Later in the season a 0-0 draw at Anfield would help the Hammers avoid relegation and finish 17th in the league whilst Liverpool once again won the title.
