Suited and booted

West Ham United's latest signings are not only kitted out but are also fitted out in the fashion stakes, thanks to Official Club Tailors Apsley.

The Pall Mall tailors visited the club's Chadwell Heath training ground two weeks ago to make sure the new additions to the Hammers squad were all measured up for a club suit.

Goalkeepers Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson, plus Matt Jarvis, James Collins, Modibo Maiga, Alou Diarra and Mohammed Diame were among those who will soon receive their made-to-measure suits to wear when representing the club on formal occasions.

Ricardo Vaz Te and Dan Potts also had fittings as the players were shown what goes into producing the highest-quality bespoke suits.

This is the third season that Apsley have been Hammers' Official Tailors and the company's managing director Arshad Mahmood is delighted that the links between the two are stronger than ever.

"We are in our third year as tailors for the club. When I am asked if making suits for footballers is different from the man in the street it is, but in a good way.

"These guys are very fit, often very tall and they ask for fitted suits, because that is how they like them. So we make them to measure for the players and we have very good feedback, from the quality of the suits to how their requests are handled, which is very important.

"We have been in the business for a great number of years - the company was established in 1889 and we offer that experience. West Ham as a club and everyone we have provided suits for are very pleased with what we do - from what we supply for them to the high standard of service we offer."
