Boleyn Ground ready for boxing

The Boleyn Ground is ready for Saturday's big boxing match between Dereck Chisora and David Haye.

The final touches were being put to the ring and seating on Friday afternoon as more than 30,000 people are set to cram into the stadium to watch the biggest night in British boxing for over a decade. Haye and Chisora have both made clear their animosity for one another and Haye is predicting a fast finish to the contest.

"Dereck's getting knocked out quick," he said. "The harder he comes the quicker he gets KO'd, My training has been good. I'm healthy, fit and fast.

"This training camp has been one of the first I've been able to do everything we planned because nothing has broken down.

"It's a situation I've never been in before and I can feel the difference. My sparring partners have felt the difference as well. Unfortunately for Dereck he's fighting the best ever Hayemaker."

Chisora is also predicting an explosive encounter and has promised to go toe-to-toe with Haye.

"I'm going to be the craziest I've been when I come into the ring," he said. "I'm feeling good, I'm excited and I can't wait. It's going to be a great fight, the fans will love it."

Meanwhile, West Ham United Head Groundsman Dougie Robertson has said that preparations for the Hammers' pitch for their return to the Premier League are well on course. Robertson and his team will work through the night on Saturday to help dismantle the ring and flooring to make sure the pitch will be perfect for the visit of Aston Villa on 18 August.

"We still have a five weeks from the boxing through to when we play Villa. The manager will plan to play on the pitch before then and I don't see there being any issues at all.

"We put a cover down and have a specialist company that came in on Wednesday and the ring was built on Thursday and Friday. When the fighting is over and the crowd is clear, we'll start de-rigging and then we'll hopefully have it all clear by 8pm Sunday night."
