West Ham United have welcomed the award of the 2017 World Athletics Championships to London.
The capital will stage the prestigious track and field event at the Olympic Stadium in the Hammers' home borough of Newham after beating Doha in a vote held by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Friday.
The championships will come five years after next summer's Olympic Games are staged at the state of the art Stratford venue in the heart of the Olympic Park.
The club said: "West Ham United are delighted the 2017 World Athletics Championships are coming to our borough. We hope we can form a great partnership with UK Athletics in three years' time. We'll be the best team around."
