James Tomkins will be the first of the club's international players to be in action this week when England U21s take on Denmark Under-21s this evening.
The friendly in Viborg is a taster for this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship, hosted by the Danes, and it is expected that the Hammers man could partner Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling in central defence.
England, ranked Europe's No1 side, will then return home to face Iceland in another friendly on Monday, when Tomkins could be on opposite sides to his club-mate Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson. Also on U21 duty will be goalkeeper Marek Stech who will hope to figure when Czech Republic play host to Belarus on Friday before receiving France next Tuesday.
