New kits cause a stir

West Ham United are delighted to officially reveal the club's 2011/12 Macron replica home and away kits - available for pre-order from today.

The kits have been designed with supporters in mind following feedback in line with the club's 'By the fans for the fans' strategy. The first to try them on were the club's new summer signing Kevin Nolan and a quartet of the club's talented youngsters including Jordan Spence, Frank Nouble, Zavon Hines and Junior Stanislas.

Spence said: "The new kit looks good. I feel it's moved on from last year, which is good. It's looking all right on the boys!

"It's a retro style again which is quite West Ham and quite niche to us and it's cool. It's the traditional colours and what everyone would expect, really.

"It's comfortable, lightweight and not clingy, which is what you want when you're playing. I'm sure it will offer comfort as well as performance."

Stanislas added: "The new kit is decent. It looks good and fits well. The colours are good - claret and blue!

"The look is outstanding. It's good for the club because the fans can wear the kit and get behind us."

Fans will recognise the nod to classic Hammers strips of yesteryear, made famous by the likes of Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds back in the 60s and 70s. The home is a traditional claret and blue offering, with round collar; the away is a classic sky blue and claret combination.

The kits, featuring a classic Italian cut and the latest design technology, contain a number of innovative details such as a 'castle' motif within the fabric to the back, and an embroidered Hammers logo. It will be worn for the first time in the club's pre-season campaign.

They are the second replica kits to be produced since Italian sportswear manufacturers Macron became the club's technical partners in summer 2010.

Fans will be able to pre-order their new kit from the club's three stores and the hugely popular new online store. To find out more and view more images, click here.
