Busy weekend for internationals

It may be June, but a host of West Ham United players have delayed their summer holidays to represent their countries this weekend.

No fewer than eight first-team players could be in action during a busy few days of international action all over the world.

In Europe, Robert Green and Scott Parker could face former Hammers team-mate Valon Behrami when England host Switzerland in a 2012 UEFA European Championship Group G qualifier at Wembley on Saturday.

England sit top of the table with ten points from four matches, while Switzerland must win to keep their own qualification hopes alive, having collected just four points from the same number of games.

In Group H, Lars Jacobsen's Denmark travel to the Laugardalsvollur Stadium in Reykjavik to take on Iceland. Denmark are third in their group behind Norway and Portugal, while Iceland are bottom.

Further afield, Demba Ba has reportedly been ruled out of Senegal's CAF Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifier in Cameroon with an injury.

Jonathan Spector's United States host FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship holders Spain in a friendly in Foxborough, Massachusetts as they continue their preparations for the forthcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.

On Sunday, Pablo Barrera's Mexico kick-off their own Gold Cup challenge by taking on El Salvador in Arlington, Texas. El Tri, who are the defending champions, are in Group A alongside Cuba and Costa Rica.

Winston Reid should start for New Zealand in their friendly international meeting with Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

Finally, James Tomkins has been called into the England squad ahead of the UEFA European U21 Championship finals in Denmark. Stuart Pearce's squad complete their preparations by hosting Norway at Southampton FC's St Mary's Stadium.
