West Ham United are ready and raring to go for the Carling Cup first-round tie against Aldershot Town on Wednesday - with fans able to buy their cut-price tickets on the night.
The manager is expected to field a strong squad for a family friendly fixture which has been rearranged from the original 9 August date, although he will doubtless give a chance to some new faces to shine - not least George McCartney and John Carew. Some of the Hammers' brightest young talents will also be involved.
"We will have to field some new players with the closeness of the games and also that we are allowed seven substitutes," said Sam Allardyce. "It is therefore a great opportunity for our young players to step up and prove to me they can be first-team regulars.
"The match is important as well for us to show that we have what it takes to go out and win a game at home. Any anxiety that is felt by not having picked up a win here will not go away until we turn that around."
It promises to be an exciting evening under the lights, with the match due to be played to a finish. There are no replays in the competition, so extra time and penalties are possible.
