West Ham United forward Carlton Cole has been fined for comments posted on the social media site Twitter.
He requested a personal FA hearing which was held on Wednesday afternoon, and he was represented by PFA Deputy Chief Executive Bobby Barnes and West Ham United Vice-Chairman Karren Brady. Cole, who was fined and warned as to his future conduct, apologised for any unintentional offence caused by the comments which the panel accepted were made unwittingly.
In admitting the charge of improper conduct, independent letters in support of Cole's community and charity work for club and country were used in mitigation as well as reference to his excellent disciplinary record.
