West Ham United U18s suffered their third FA Premier Academy League loss in five matches with a 2-0 home defeat by Crystal Palace at Little Heath.
The Eagles scored two late goals past the helpless Deniz Mehmet to condemn the Hammers to defeat, leaving Academy Director Tony Carr frustrated.
"We were disappointed with the result against Crystal Palace last time out," he said. "The performance, in terms of keeping the ball and having the lion's share of possession, was not bad, but we didn't take advantage of the situations we had. We squandered some good opportunities.
"The goals we had scored against us came late in the game on the counterattack. There are lots of lessons to be learned.
"I have to say that Crystal Palace worked very hard for their win. They were very well organised and ten or eleven men behind the ball at every opportunity. They had a great team ethic in terms of making sure their team didn't concede. They denied us time and space."
