Marek Stech and Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson have taken a big step towards appearing at the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with both left smiling after their head to head meeting on Tuesday.
Stech's Czech Republic confirmed top spot in Group 5 and an automatic play-off place with a 3-1 victory over Iceland. However, Iceland's superior goal difference ensured they pipped Israel, Wales and Russia to the final play-off slot on offer from the UEFA qualifying groups for the four best group runners-up.
Goalkeeper Stech and centre-back Eyjolfsson both completed the full 90 minutes at the Chance Arena in Jablonec nad Nisou. As such, their nations will join 12 other sides - including England - in seven two-legged play-offs, with the winners joining hosts Denmark in the finals.
