Frank Nouble celebrated his call-up to the England squad for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship elite round with a decisive role for Swindon Town this weekend.
Nouble has been selected for the Young Lions squad aiming to reach the 2010 UEFA European U19 Championship from the final qualifying stage. He previously played in all three games as England reached this spring's elite round, where they will meet mini-tournament hosts Ukraine, the holders, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republic of Ireland between 26-31 May.
The young Hammers striker had the best game of his loan spell with Swindon on Saturday in a huge League One promotion encounter against Brentford. Wearing the No9 shirt, Nouble started the match and promptly set-up the decisive goal in the 3-2 victory, with a cross for the prolific Billy Paynter before being substituted in the 71st minute..
Swindon are just a point behind second-placed Leeds with one match of the regular campaign to play. They face a huge date away to Millwall next Saturday with a victory and a Leeds defeat at home to Bristol Rovers enough to ensure them the runners-up spot and automatic promotion to the Championship - with a play-off spot guaranteed regardless.
Charlton, who beat Leeds without another West Ham loanee in defender Matt Fry, are a point further back on Swindon. Meanwhile, up in the Championship, Plymouth Argyle are hoping to sign Bondz 'Gala on a permanent two-year deal after an impressive stay following today's game against Peterborough United while Freddie Sears plays the last game of his spell at Coventry City at home to Watford.
