The 2009/10 Young Hammer of the Year is a livewire striker who never gives his opposing defenders a moment's rest.

Zavon Hines was born in Kingston, Jamaica before moving to London as a child. Since joining West Ham United as a youngster, the striker's pace and willing attitude have seen him earmarked for great things.

Hines is still young and has time to fulfil his undoubted potential.

2010/11

Totalled 15 first-team appearances, six of them starts, but failed to find the net...Made nine Barclays Premier League appearances, four of them starts...Made three appearances in both the Carling Cup and FA Cup...Scored four goals in six appearances in the Barclays Premier Reserve League, netting against home and away against Chelsea and adding further strikers in the home games against Arsenal and Newcastle United.

2009/10

Made first appearance of the season as a substitute in 2-1 home Premier League defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on 23 August 2009…Scored first senior goal for West Ham United in 3-1 League Cup second-round victory over Millwall on 25 August 2009…Won a penalty after being fouled by Jamie Carragher in the home Premier League meeting with Liverpool on 19 September 2009…Won a penalty before scoring a last-minute winner in the 2-1 home Premier League victory over Aston Villa on 4 November 2009…Ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury following the 4-0 home Premier League defeat by Manchester United on 5 December 2009…Totalled five Premier League starts and 13 appearances in total…Appeared in two League Cup ties…Booked three times…Won Young Hammer of the Year award.

2008/09

Scored in 4-2 pre-season victory at Hampton & Richmond on 17 July 2008…Scored in reserve pre-season friendly wins at Thurrock and Billericay Town…Netted a dramatic late equaliser in 2-2 pre-season Ted Bates Trophy draw at Southampton…Marked his senior West Ham United debut by scoring in the 4-1 home League Cup third-round victory over Macclesfield Town on 27 August 2008…Scored one goal in nine Barclays Premier Reserve League South appearances.

Signed his first professional contract in summer of 2007…Started alongside Carlton Cole in pre-season friendly victory at Dagenham & Redbridge on 14 July 2007…Scored in reserve team pre-season friendly win at Hornchurch…Joined Coventry City on loan on 27 March 2008, making his Sky Blues debut in a 3-1 home Championship win over Plymouth Argyle two days later...Scored his first senior goal in 1-1 Championship draw at Sheffield Wednesday on second appearance on 1 April 2008…Totalled seven substitute appearances for Coventry City, scoring once.

International career

Called up by Jamaica for the international friendly meeting with Nigeria at The New Den in February 2009, but did not appear from the substitutes' bench…Scored twice on his England U21 debut after coming on as a substitute in a 6-3 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying win over FYR Macedonia at the Ricoh Arena on 9 October 2009…Appeared as a substitute in the UEFA European U21 Championship qualifier against Lithuania on 17 November 2009.
