HOLMAR ORN EYJOLFSSON

A versatile defender or defensive midfielder, Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson has been earmarked to achieve great things since breaking into the first team at HK Kopavogur at the age of 16.

A tall and commanding player, Eyjolfsson's talents were put to good use during a successful loan spell at KSV Roeselare in the Belgian First Division club during the latter part of the 2009/10 season.

At international level, the youngster is already a vital member of Iceland's Under-21 side and will be keen to graduate to the senior squad at the earliest possible opportunity.

2009/10

Made five Barclays Premier Reserve League South starts...Loaned to League Two Cheltenham Town for a month on 2 October 2009…Made his Football League debut for Cheltenham Town in 1-1 home draw with Notts County on 3 October 2009…Totalled four first-team appearances for Cheltenham Town…Loaned to Belgian First Division club KSV Roeselare for the remainder of the season on 10 January 2010…Made 12 league appeareances, but was unable to prevent KSV Roeselare being relegated after a play-off…Made four Belgian Cup appearances as KSV Roeselare reached the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

2008/09

Joined West Ham United from HK Kopavogur on 4 July 2008…Made his West Ham United debut playing alongside Matthew Upson in a 3-0 pre-season friendly win at Thurrock on 26 July 2008…Totalled nine Barclays Premier Reserve League South appearances, eight of them starts…Scored in the 4-1 Barclays Premier Reserve League South defeat at Fulham on 9 October 2008…Made four FA Premier Academy League starts.

International career

Capped by Iceland at U16, U17, U19 and U21 levels…Helped Iceland to reach the 2007 UEFA European U17 Championship finals, where he was named as one of the Players of the Tournament…Made his U21 debut for Iceland in November 2007…Played a central role as Iceland made a strong start to their 2011 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying campaign, scoring in the 8-0 home win over San Marino on 9 October 2009.

Before West Ham United

Joined HK Kopavogur as a trainee in 2006…Made 20 first-team appearances for HK Kopavogur, helping the team to gain promotion to the First Division for the first time in their history in 2007.
