Ladies frozen out

The cold weather forced West Ham United Ladies' fourth round FA Cup game with Bristol Academy Ladies to be postponed.

With no respite in the sub zero temperatures, thick snow and ice covered the pitch at Bristol Academy as is was inspected Friday evening. The fixture will now be played seven days later on Sunday 17 January, with the winners facing a potential fifth-round tie just a week after that.

The rearrangement means that the Hammers will also face a delay in further defending their Essex County Cup winners' title from last season. Their quarter-final, a big local derby with Barking, will now be played at Thurrock either on Sunday 24 January or Sunday 31 January, depending on their success and possible cup run available at Bristol.
