Academy head for US capital

West Ham United have been invited to take part in the International Amateur Soccer Tournament - The Challenge for the Tiffany Trophy Cup in Washington DC between 27 March and 4 April.

The Under-17 competition will also feature leading Mexican side Pachuca CF, Major League Soccer club DC United and Northern Capital Soccer League team Annandale United. A host of leading clubs from around the world have also been invited to take part.

All the club's expenses for the trip will be paid for by the tournament's organisers. Last year's competition was won by Real Madrid.

* Last weekend's FA Premier Academy League trip to Southampton was postponed due to the pitch being waterlogged at the Saints' Staplewood training ground. A date for the re-arranged fixture has yet to be confirmed. The Hammers will return to action with a home fixture against Crystal Palace at Little Heath on Saturday.
