West Ham United U18 v Aldershot Town U18
FA Youth Cup third round
Boleyn Ground
Tuesday 7 December 2010
Kick-off: 7pm

Final score - West Ham United U18 5-0 Aldershot Town

90 mins - Almost right on 90 minutes and referee Dave Rock blows for full-time. That was a decent night's work for the Hammers, who could have scored more than five goals. Aldershot kept working right until the end, though, and can take pride from their run to the third round. The fourth-round draw will take place later this week. Keep a close eye on whufc.com for details. The club's official website will also provide exclusive post-match reaction, while WHUTV will have highlights and interviews.

88 mins - Good football from the home side. Vose brings the ball forward and plays a one-two with Hall before finding Tombides. The No9 shoots, but his effort flicks off Purdy's heel and flies a yard wide.

86 mins - That is going to hurt on a cold night like this. Craig clears the ball straight into Modelski, who is pole-axed. After some treatment, the right-back is OK to continue.

83 mins - Bowerman gets in between Modelski and Craig, but he slices his left-foot shot wide of the target from 18 yards. Good spirit from Aldershot, though.

81 mins - How unlucky has Hall been tonight? He picks up a pass from Tombides and cuts on to his left foot before curling a dipping shot against the base of the post. Seconds later, he shoots again and the ball strikes Jesson and bounces to safety.

80 mins - Aldershot have a free-kick close to where Moncur scored from before half-time. Pilgrim tries his luck and Mehmet dives to his right to push the ball away. The Turkey U17 goalkeeper is there again when the cross comes back into the box.

78 mins - Very close to No6 for West Ham as Modelski scampers down the right and crosses. Turgott controls and turns on to his left foot, but the shot doesn't have the power to beat Clement.

77 mins - George Bowerman replaces Tom Allen for the men in yellow.

74 mins - That's a fantastic chance for a consolation goal. Allen gets in behind and knocks the ball past Mehmet. He is forced to check back and by the time he shoots, Craig has got back and and clears behind for a corner. The ball comes over and Mehmet claims.

72 mins - GOAL! Purdy! Hall does brilliantly, bursting away from a defender and getting to the byline before pulling the ball into the path of the substitute, who despatched a powerful first-time shot past Clement from eight yards. Good goal, that.

72 mins - Oooh! Modelski gets in behind down the right and sends a low cross over. Hall connects at the near post, but his shot hits the side-netting.

71 mins - Another great chance for West Ham, this time for Purdy. The Irish youngster spins away in the box and shoots left-footed, but it flies over the top.

70 mins - GOAL! What a goal that is from Tombides, who cuts in from the left and curls an unstoppable dipping effort past Clement and into the far corner. Fantastic strike.

68 mins - West Ham make their final change, bringing on Purdy for Moncur.

66 mins - A second change from Carr, who replaces Driver with Danny Potts.

65 mins - Great play by Hall, who has now gone into the centre of the front three. He controls a Sanchez clearance on his chest, receives a pass from Tombides and spins before curling a 25-yard shot just over the top.

63 mins - Vose is involved almost immediately, but he over-hits his through ball for Hall and Clement is there to pick the ball up.

62 mins - A change from West Ham, who replace Lletget with Vose.

61 mins - Good chance that. Turgott gets in behind and pulls the ball back for Hall, but the No7 scuffs his shot and Clement makes the save.

60 mins - A Landais corner creates some minor havoc inside the West Ham penalty area. The ball pings around for a while before Driver comes off his post to smash upfield.

58 mins - Tombides sends Modelski galloping down the right touchline. He sends a superb ball across the face of the six-yard box, but Turgott just can't get on the end of it. There are definitely more goals in this game for the Hammers.

56 mins - Carr has sent Vose out to warm up along the touchline. The midfielder could be on soon, I reckon.

54 mins - Turgott sends Tombides away down the inside-left channel. He crosses first-time, but it's too strong for Hall and rolls out for a goal kick near the corner flag.

53 mins - Wearen comes forward from halfway and shoots from about 30 yards, but it is wayward and flies into the Bobby Moore Stand seats.

52 mins - Hall sends a delightful ball through for Turgott to chase, but James Scott just gets there in time to make a block.

50 mins - Aldershot break out from the back and attack two-on-two. Allen flicks the ball on to Davies, who shoots low but too close to Mehmet, who blocks with his legs.

49 mins - Aldershot are rocking a bit. Driver crosses and Clement spills the ball. It takes Jesson three attempts to clear!

47 mins - GOAL! Poor old Bergqvist! The Shots captain clears straight into Lletget and the ball ricochets off the American and past Clement and into the net.

46 mins - Aldershot get us back underway...

Half-time score - West Ham United U18 2-0 Aldershot Town U18

47 mins - The half-time whistle is blown.

46 mins - Great play from Driver, who anticipates a pass and runs 50 yards, holding off a defender before checking back on to his right foot. He slides the ball across for Tombides, but he can't control.

44 mins - Tombides spins on the edge of the box and shoots left-footed. It hits a boot and goes behind. The corner is taken short to Turgott, but his cross is behind the players gathered in the box.

40 mins - Sanchez slips and Allen gets away, but his cross is too high. Moments later, Aldershot have the ball again through Landais, but his cross-shot is neither one nor the other and flies past the far post.

38 mins - Aldershot are going to have to make a change. An injury to No10 Max Worsfold, who has to be carried to the touchline. He is replaced by No15 Mo Davies.

34 mins - GOAL! Own-goal from Aldershot captain Bergqvist. Lletget sends Driver away down the left and his low cross is towards Tombides. He stabs the ball past Clement and Bergqvist tries to hack it off the line, but can only help it into his own net off the base of the crossbar.

32 mins - Great football from the home side, who are popping the ball around with real confidence now. Unfortunately, when Turgott crosses towards Tombides, the Australian handles and the chance is lost.

31 mins - West Ham have turned up the gas here. Moncur finds Wearen, who plays one-twos with Tombides and Lletget and looks to be in on goal, only for the ball to run free six yards out.

30 mins - The corner is taken short to Hall, who cuts inside and then outside a defender before shooting. The ball flies across the face of goal and out for a throw.

29 mins - So close to a second for Moncur. Turgott tricks down the left before cutting inside. The ball runs free into the path of Moncur, who side-foots powerfully towards the roof of the net, only for Clement to get a finger-tip to the ball and divert it over the top.

28 mins - Wearen gifts possession to Landais midway inside the West Ham half. He has plenty of space in front of him, does the No7, who runs forward and shoots over the top from 30 yards.

26 mins - Driver drives forward again down the left and cuts inside two defenders. Good play, but he can only drag his shot wide of the near post.

25 mins - Modelski hurls a long throw into the box and Lletget tries to flick it on towards Tombides, but defender Scott is there to volley clear.

23 mins - West Ham come again and Driver wins a left-wing corner. Turgott again passes too close to Clement, who catches above his head.

22 mins - GOAL! Moncur most certainly did fancy it, curling an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Clement and into the top corner. That was a fantastic strike from the young midfielder.

22 mins - Tombides is impeded about five yards outside the Aldershot penalty area. Free-kick. Moncur fancies this one.

20 mins - Landais again, driving down the right and winning a corner off the boot of Moncur. James Pilgrim crosses and Wearen heads powerfully clear.

19 mins - The Shots have come right into this. Landais sends a cross into the box that is allowed to bounce by Sanchez. Thankfully, Mehmet has anticipated it and grabs the ball.

18 mins - Oooh! Close. Tombides races clear down the left and crosses at head height, but the England U17 winger can't get enough of a contact on the ball to direct it goalwards. Aldershot go straight up the other end and right midfielder George Landais fires a 25-yard drive a couple of yards over the crossbar.

17 mins - Tony Carr had warned against Aldershot's strength from set plays and the visitors nearly benefit from one. The ball drops into the six-yard box and both Driver and Craig are unable to clear. The ball shoots across the centre of the penalty area before Turgott slices the ball clear.

15 mins - Hall brings the ball forward again but picks the wrong option. Instead of laying a simple ball left to Tombides in space, he tries to flick it left with the outside of his foot towards Lletget, but the ball is headed clear.

13 mins - Hall spreads play wide right to Modelski before swapping passes with the Pole. Modelski crosses but it is headed away to Driver, who controls and shoots low and wide from 25 yards.

10 mins - Hall spins away after receiving a pass from Wearen and finds Lletget. The American spreads play left to Driver, but his cross is again cut out at the near post.

7 mins - West Ham win a corner down the left through Driver. Turgott crosses, but goalkeeper Jordan Clement calls loudly before claiming high above his head.

6 mins - Henrik Breimyr tries to find Tom Allen with a long ball down the middle, but Sanchez is there to head the ball to Craig, who completes the clearance.

4 mins - West Ham have lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Hall wide left and Turgott wide right and Tombides down the middle. Lletget does well in midfield before sprinting forward and controlling Driver's lofted pass on his chest. A defender nips in and Lletget is forced to slide in and concede a goal kick.

3 mins - It's all West Ham so far. Wearen brings the ball forward before finding Driver out on the left at the second attempt. The full-back crosses right-footed, but it is low and cut out.

1 min - Modelski comes forward down the right and pings the ball into Lletget, but the American is crowded out by two men in yellow.

7pm - West Ham get us underway kicking towards the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand end.

6.59pm - The two teams both get together for a pre-match huddle. Aldershot's goalkeeper forgets to join the fun, though and arrives just as his colleagues shout 'Aldershot!' and peel away!

6.57pm - Here come the two teams, led by captains Sergio Sanchez and Doug Bergqvist. West Ham are in claret and blue, while Aldershot are all in yellow. In fact they look like the Spanish side Villarreal CF! Both teams pose for team photographs ahead of the kick-off.

6.55pm - Both teams have headed back to their dressing rooms for some last-minute instructions from their respective managers. There is quite a small crowd in tonight, but it is cold and there is plenty of UEFA Champions League football on the TV.

Good evening and welcome to the Boleyn Ground for tonight's FA Youth Cup third-round meeting with Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference side Aldershot Town.

Academy Director Tony Carr MBE has named a near full-strength team for the tie, with only winger Matthias Fanimo unavailable due to injury. The Hammers come into the match on the back of three consecutive FA Premier Academy League wins over Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth.

Aldershot reached this stage by defeating AFC Wimbledon 3-0 in the second round andf will be no pushovers.
