A tall and powerful defender, Winston Reid started all three of New Zealand's matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, scoring in the All Whites' 1-1 draw with Slovakia.

Comfortable at right-back or centre-back, Reid moved to Denmark at the age of ten, representing the Scandinavian nation at U19, U20 and U21 levels before switching international allegiance to the country of his birth in early 2010.

After five years of first-team action at FC Midtjylland in Denmark, the 6'3" player moved to West Ham United in August 2010.

2014/15

Began the season as the Hammers' first pick at centre half...Scored his first goal of the season in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool on 20 September 2014.

2013/14

Scores the opening goal of the 3-0 Barclays Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on 6 October 2013....Suffered an ankle injury in training in early November 2013, meaning his misses New Zealand's FIFA World Cup Inter-Continental play-off tie with Mexico and three months of the Barclays Premier League campaign...Returned off the bench in the Hammers' 2-0 victory over Swansea City on 1 February 2014...Remained a regular starter over the closing months of the season as the Hammers secured their top flight status.

2012/13

Netted a late equaliser in the 1-1 pre-season draw at SC Braga in Portugal on 10 August 2012...Scored the second goal in West Ham United's 3-0 home Barclays Premier League victory over Fulham on 1 September 2012...Voted SBOBET Player of the Month for December 2012...After playing a central role in West Ham's defensive success in the 2012/13 campaign and starting for eleven of their 12 clean sheets, was named as the Hammer of the Year at the Club's Player Awards Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
