In-form West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has been called into Fabio Capello's new-look England squad to face Hungary at Wembley on Wednesday.
Cole has been in superb shape in pre-season, scoring against Peterborough United, VfL Borussia Monchengladbach, MK Dons and Ipswich Town and leading the line in Saturday's SBOBET Cup victory over RC Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old will be hoping to notch his first goal for his country at senior level on what would be his eighth appearance for England.
Cole joins Herita Ilunga (DR Congo), Jonathan Spector (United States), Thomas Hitzlsperger (Germany), Valon Behrami (Switzerland), Tal Ben Haim (Israel) and Pablo Barrera (Mexico) in senior squad call-ups for friendlies next week. Among those on Under-21 duty are Marek Stech, Holmar Eyjolfsson and Fabio Daprela.
