Parker return pleases Faubert

Julien Faubert is tipping the return of Scott Parker to be a major influence on home hopes at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon.

The Hammer of the Year will return to the starting lineup against Wigan Athletic after a two-match suspension and Faubert said his team-mate was a pivotal player for the cause. No one is under any illusion about the scale of the task facing the Hammers with just three matches left this campaign.

"We have done a good week of training. Everyone is focused. We need to win as we need those three points. We need four points overall and we have to win at home and then we can think about the big games against Fulham and Manchester City. We are ready.

"Having Scott Parker back is good news. He is a very big worker running forward and back. He gives us the transition between defence and the strikers, that is good. We missed him against Liverpool. He will give the type of display that will be good for us."

Faubert has enjoyed a fine season himself, especially considering his struggles with form and fitness in the past. His effort has not gone unnoticed by the supporters and he is backing them to maintain their passionate support today. "We need the fans behind us because they can push us in the back to run more and give more effort.

"They are behind us definitely. They showed that on Monday [at Liverpool]. We lost 3-0 but they still shouted for us. We are at home and we need a big atmosphere to put the pressure on Wigan."
