Faubert thanks the fans

Julien Faubert has thanked West Ham United's supporters after being named the SBOBET Player of the Month for August 2009 in a poll of whufc.com users.

The 26-year-old France full-back has enjoyed a fine start to the new campaign, helping the Hammers to victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Millwall and an impressive goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers.

Faubert said he had been inspired by the support of the club's fans, and told WHUTV he is aiming to maintain his good form over the coming months.

"I feel okay and I'm very happy about this, but it's not the end for me," he said. "I want to play a lot of games and win a lot of games for West Ham. I am very happy and I want to say 'Thank you' to the fans and to everybody."

Having switched to his preferred right-back berth from his former position on the right wing, the 26-year-old said the sound of supporters chanting his name had given his confidence a huge boost.

"I feel more confidence and when you have the fans pushing you, you can run a little bit more and you don't feel the fatigue. I am very happy about this. When I heard my name I was very happy. It's good for my confidence and it's good for the team."
