U21 tickets going fast

West Ham United supporters will have to be quick if they want to follow their heroes at this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Hammers midfielder Mark Noble is almost certain to be included in England's squad for the tournament, which will be held in Sweden in June, while defender James Tomkins could also force his way into manager Stuart Pearce's thinking following his strong recent performances in the Premier League.

However, fans planning to travel to Scandinavia for the finals will have to pick up their telephones or log on to their computers and order tickets soon if they are not to be disappointed.

More than 100,000 tickets for the 15-match tournament have already been sold, with England's Group B fixtures against Spain and Germany proving hugely popular.

More than 13,000 tickets have been sold for England's clash with Spain at the newly-built 16,700-capacity Gamla Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg on 18 June, while just a few hundred seats remain for the final group game against Germany at the 15,500-capacity Orjans Vall stadium in Halmstad on 22 June.

England will take on Finland in their opening group fixture on 15 June in Halmstad.

UEFA's head of national team competitions Mikael Salzer has been delighted with the level of interest in the tournament.

"With one month to go before kick-off, the ticket sales figures are really good," he said. "We are at a similar level to the last edition in the Netherlands in 2007. We are looking forward to a final tournament in Sweden in front of packed crowds and with a great atmosphere in the stadiums."

The Swedish Football Association's tournament director Karl-Erik Nilsson added: "It's fantastic. Already less than half the general public tickets remain to be sold and we expect to have the main rush for tickets closer to the start of the tournament."
