Bremen game called off

West Ham United look set to have to wait until Wednesday for their next match in Austria after the friendly with Werder Bremen was cancelled because of  torrential downpours.

Following six days of non-stop sunshine, heavy thunderstorms hit eastern Austria on Saturday morning, rendering the pitch in Bad Waltersdorf unplayable and leaving the two clubs with no option but to call the game off. In place of the match, West Ham will now have an extra training session on Saturday evening ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Turkish side Bursaspor in Bad Radkersburg.
