West Ham United 2-1 Chelsea
FA Carling Premiership
17 February 1996

A Chelsea side featuring former two-times FIFA World Player of the Year Ruud Gullit and Romania's 1994 World Cup and Euro 96 star Dan Petrescu were no match for Harry Redknapp's resurgent West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground.

The Hammers, who went into the fixture on the back of three straight Premiership victories, came from a goal down at half-time to snatch another notable success thanks to Danny Williamson's 72nd-minute winner.

Earlier, Chelsea had taken a 13th-minute lead through Gavin Peacock, but not before Glenn Hoddle's side had lost Eddie Newton to a broken leg within the opening five minutes. However, a West Ham side including Steve Potts, Slaven Bilic and Dani fought back to secure the three points.

A crowd of 25,252 had seen West Ham go in at the break a goal down, but Harry Redknapp's men drew level when Julian Dicks headed in on 62 minutes. Ten minutes, later, the home side had secured their fourth straight win when Williamson fired past Kevin Hitchcock.
