Alice Simpson
Alice passed away 20 February 2009 aged 91.
She had been supporting West Ham United for more than 40 years and sat in the East Stand upper tier. She had also travelled to Europe to watch the team in cup games and friendlies.
She will be sorely missed by all her fellow supporters and friends.
Harry Bloom
Lifelong West Ham United supporter Harry Bloom, who saw his first Hammers match in 1927, has died at the age of 89. Bloom, who suffered a heart attack at his home in Wanstead, was born in Whitechapel, from where he used to walk to home matches at the Boleyn Ground.
A great fan, Bloom followed the team home and away until he reached his seventies, when old age prevented him from travelling up north to away matches. A soldier during the Second World War, the only thing that could stop him attending matches, Bloom was wounded during the Normandy landings.
Following the war, he became a professional boxer, fighting bouts in Chicago and New York City before returning to London to work for his father's tailoring business in Corporation Street.
Son Bernard said his father had loved the atmosphere during West Ham's matches.
"He liked the old-fashioned way of watching football. He'd rather stand shoulder-to-shoulder on a packed North Bank in the rain than sit in a seat with a roof over his head.
"My dad lived and breathed West Ham. His favourite player was Johnny Sissions. He never thought he received the credit he deserved. He also liked our World Cup winners and, more recently, he liked Alan Devonshire."
While Bernard is also a big supporter, it is Bloom's grandson Daniel who has followed in his grandfather's footsteps, attending every Hammers match.
Mr Bloom is also survived another son, Leon, who now lives in Canada.
Norman Kindler
Norman Kindler sadly passed away on Feb 28th he will be greatly missed by his wife Roberta and daughter Davina and family.
Frank Ward
Frank Ward, a true West Ham United supporter, passed away on the 28th February 2009 at the Pilgrim Hospice in Ashford, Kent.
This year would have been Frank's 50th year as a West Ham season ticket holder and supporter Frank was also a member of the supporters club.
Family and friends would just like to say how sadly missed he will be.
Keep forever blowing bubbles Frank.
