Ladies march on

West Ham United 15 Billericay Town Ladies 0

West Ham United Ladies continued their impressive start to the season by putting fifteen goals past Billericay Ladies to progress to the next round of the Essex Women's County Cup.

Claire Rogers hit a hat-trick while Sam Pittuck, Lindsey Morgan, Tracey Duxbury and Julia Sefton all bagged braces. Jess Barling, Rosy Sullivan, Gemma Shepherd and Leah Cowan completed the impressive list of scorers.

Captain Morgan, Pittuck and Barling were all taken off at half time for a rest, but new recruits Shepherd and Katie Holmes played the full 90 minutes for a side that included five players aged 18 and under.

After the game manager Tony Marshall insisted the match was not quite as simple as the scoreline suggested. "I think we played very well against a very spirited Billericay side," he said. "We had a lot of people watching and although occasionally we had too much time and space, I think we kept the ball moving and our finishing was good. Their goalkeeper did very well and it was good to see the goals spread around the team. "

West Ham United Ladies return to action in the FA Tesco Women's Premier League south on Sunday as they host local rivals Millwall Lionesses at Thurrock. Kick-off is at 2pm.
