Ladies keep cup run going

West Ham United Ladies 7-0 Colchester United Ladies

Katy Ling and Tracey Duxbury had an afternoon to remember on Sunday as Tony Marshall's side got 2008 under way in the best possible fashion.

The FA Cup fourth-round triumph at Harlow Town was lit up by Ling's hat-trick and a four-goal salvo from Duxbury. It was also a strong defensive display, with the Hammers yet to concede a goal in this season's competition after beating Queen's Park Rangers 5-0 in the previous round.

Reflecting on the Colchester win, Marshall said: "Earlier in the season we beat them 2-1 away in the league, but it was a game that could have gone either way and we got the winner in added time. So to beat that same side by seven goals shows just how much the girls have pushed on in the last few months." The draw for the fifth round was due to take place on Monday.
