Good day for Reid and Payne

Kyel Reid, Josh Payne Nigel Quashie were the only winners among the West Ham United's loanees on Saturday with seven of the eight in action overall.

All of those who played got a full 90 minutes, with only Jordan Spence - an unused substitute in Leyton Orient's 1-1 draw at Northampton Town - missing out completely.

In the Championship, Reid helped Blackpool won 2-0 at home against Charlton Athletic to move up to 15th while Quashie's part in a 3-2 win for Birmingham City at home to Watford saw them close the gap on leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers to three points. The other player involved in second-tier action was James Tomkins, who was cautioned as Derby County lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

The best result for the four players who featured in League One came for Payne, the 18-year-old midfielder in his third month at Cheltenham Town. The youth-team captain's corner was headed in by Drissa Diallo in the 48th minute to earn Cheltenham a first win since October although they remain five points adrift of safety.

The three other Hammers in action were all losers, namely Bondz 'Gala, Jimmy Walker and Junior Stanislas as MK Dons lost 2-0 at home to Scunthorpe United, Colchester United were beaten 2-1 by visitors Hereford United and Southend were defeated 3-0 at Leicester City respectively.
