Curbs: It's simply not good enough

After seeing his West Ham United side suffer a crushing 4-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic at The Valley, Alan Curbishley admitted: "It's not good enough."

He said: "I'm as devastated as the fans. We came here today to win. Losing the first goal was vital and it was even more disappointing because there was a hint of offside about it. But it was a clinical finish and after the second two there was no coming back."

"It's happened too many times over the last few weeks and it's not good enough. It's getting very, very difficult to find the positives."

Curbs admitted having asked the players: "Are we going to go down with a whimper or are we going to put a fight in?"

"We've got to pick some results up," he added. "It's been a poor, poor weekend and that's added to the six or seven weeks we've had."

"It's all about confidence, that's a major factor. It's a culmination of reasons as to why this football club is in this position. But there are 10 games left and loads of points at stake. We need a lift-off."

"We're past disappointed. The fans have been the only constant since I've been here. They're always behind the team giving everything they've got."
