Aston Villa v Hammers: Big Match Preview

Team news:

New signing Matthew Upson is set to make his first appearance in a West Ham shirt at Villa Park tomorrow.

Upson is in line to bolster the Hammers' defence with Danny Gabbidon, James Collins, Anton Ferdinand and Lucas Neill all sidelined.

Ashley Young and John Carew could make their home debuts for Villa, while Shaun Maloney, a transfer deadline day signing from Celtic, may also feature.

Match stats:

Victory could see Alan Curbishley's side move out of the bottom three if Portsmouth also defeat Wigan at the JJB stadium.

The Hammers are unbeaten in their last five matches against Villa but are still seeking their first away win of the season. Marlon Harewood scored from the penalty spot to give United a 2-1 win in the corresponding fixture last season.

If Harewood features in the starting 11 it will be his 250th career League start. Villa have won once in their last 13 Premiership games and drawn 11 times this season.

The referee is Chris Foy from Merseyside. Earlier this season Foy showed Paul Konchesky the red card during the Hammers' 0-0 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
