'Together we can achieve our ambitions'

During the week the Club announced some key changes to the ownership of West Ham United and the structure of the Board.

As we look forward we are seeking to build some truly solid foundations for the future ambitions of West Ham United. This is a great football club with tremendous heritage and tradition and with the superb backing of you, the most wonderful set of supporters.

My job as owner and Chairman is to help plan for the future and create the right conditions off the field to help Alan Curbishley and the playing squad deliver success on the field.

As the new Chairman I recognise the responsibility that comes with this role and I know that view is shared by all the members of the new Board. We now embark on the next step in the development of this great Club and we are all proud to be part of something so special.

I am particularly delighted that we have been able to take a further step in our plans for a new stadium, which is crucial to the long-term ambitions of the Club. We will keep you updated with any developments in this area through whufc.com and the matchday programme.

I hope to have the opportunity to get closer to you the fans in the near future as without you this Club would be nothing. I believe that regular dialogue and feedback from everyone involved is crucial to the future success of West Ham United. Together we can achieve our ambitions.

One of the most noticeable changes to you the fans will have been Eggert Magnusson's decision to move on to pastures new and to pursue his other interests.

I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Eggert, who has done a tremendous job as Chairman, often in difficult circumstances, since our consortium bought the Club twelve months ago. I am sure you will join me in wishing him well for the future and express our thanks for all that he has done for West Ham.

Everyone here at the Club is looking forward to the hectic schedule of games over the next couple of weeks and the fact that the home games are sold-out is testament to your passion and dedication. If you are on your way to the Boleyn Ground today, I hope you enjoy the game and that we will all experience the glow that comes with three points and victory.

Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson,
West Ham United Owner and Chairman
