Lucas Neill is set to miss the opening match of the Barclays Premier League season after tweaking his knee ligaments in training. Scott Parker is also set to miss out with a slight knee injury of his own while fellow new signing Julien Faubert will be sidelined for a few months with an Achilles injury.

Ew Manchester City signings Vedran Corluka and Valeri Bojinov are awaiting international clearance in order to be told they can take part, while goalkeeper Joe Hart could make his League debut in place of the injured Andreas Isaksson.
