Defender George McCartney has now passed a second
medical and has begun light training with his new West Ham team
mates. George took a preliminary medical at the beginning of August
but remained in Sunderland for treatment of a knee injury.
All the paperwork has now been signed to complete a four-year deal
for the services of the Northern Ireland international.
The 25-year-old left-back is delighted at being firmly on the road
to recovery and is very focused on what his aims are for the
season.
"I think I am about 2 to 3 weeks from getting back into full
training at which point I will play some reserve games to get me
back to full fitness then it will just be a case of pushing for the
first team.
"It was strange how things happened when I first signed, still being up in Sunderland for my treatment, but now I have been down here for a couple of weeks and all the lads have been top class and have looked after me. The Manager and his staff have made me feel really welcome too and I am just delighted to be here. Now I just want to put my head down and work hard at getting into the first team."
