Pards named Barclays Manager of the Month

West Ham United is delighted to confirm that Alan Pardew has been named as the Barclays Premiership Manager of the Month for February.

The Hammers boss has scooped the award following a 100% Premiership record in the month, which began with the memorable 3-2 triumph against Arsenal at Highbury and was followed by convincing home wins against Sunderland (2-0) and Birmingham City (3-0) in later weeks.

The announcement follows Anton Ferdinand's success as the Barclays Premiership Player of the Month for January, and is the first time a West Ham United manager has won the award since Glenn Roeder in March 2003.

The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans.

Jim Hytner, from the Barclays Awards Panel, said: "Alan Pardew should be congratulated on this award win, West Ham have proved to be more than a match for most teams this season. There is a talented crop of young English players at Upton Park now, and under Pardew's guidance, they will hopefully fulfil their ambitions with both club and country."

Pards himself says: "This is an award for the tremendous work that the team, squad and staff have put in - not just last month but throughout the season.

"We thank Barclays and it is an honour for the whole Club. I believe we have the best backroom staff in the country and this award is a reflection of that."
