West Ham United can confirm that our involvement in next
season's UEFA Cup has resulted in the rearrangement of two home
Premiership fixtures in September.
Hammers will return to European competition for the first time in seven years when we appear in a UEFA Cup first round, first leg tie on Thursday, September 14, meaning that our home Premiership encounter against Newcastle United, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 16, will now be put back 24 hours to Sunday, September 17 (3.00pm kick-off).
The same process will apply for our Upton Park clash against Alan Pardew's former club Reading, originally to be played on Saturday, September 30, but now planned for Sunday, October 1 (2.00pm kick-off) following the second leg of our UEFA Cup first round tie on Thursday, September 28.
The draw for the UEFA Cup first round takes place in Monaco on Friday, August 25.
We can also confirm a change to one other Premiership clash in the 2006-07 season. Our Boxing Day encounter at home to Portsmouth, originally scheduled as a 3.00pm kick-off, will instead kick-off at 1.00pm.
