League Honour Martin Cearns

Vice-Chairman, Martin Cearns, has been presented with a Football League award in recognition of his long service to the Club.

Martin has completed 27 years of service, including 17 years as Chairman or Vice-Chairman.

Rt Hon the Lord Brian Mawhinney KT, presented the long-service medal on behalf of the Football League before our game against Chelsea on January 2nd.

Martin's great-grandfather was a founding member of the Club 105 years ago and his family have provided the Chairman or Vice-Chairman for every year during the last 75 years.

Chairman Terry Brown said: "I'd like to thank Martin in particular on behalf of the executive directors, not only for his enthusiasm and encouragement during the very difficult last five years, but over the last 27 years.

"He has rarely missed a match, whether at Crewe or Rotherham or watching the Reserves in the rain and wind at Dagenham, and never once doubted the Club would resolve its problems and the great institution that his family have run for so long would return to its rightful place in the Premier League."
