A message of thanks

Hammers fans may recall our recent announcement of the sudden and tragic death of Ian Jackson, a long-serving and loyal employee of West Ham United.

Ian was the Training Ground Co-ordinator at our Chadwell Heath headquarters and had been a valued member of staff for over 22 years before his sad passing on January 2.

He left a wife, Michelle, and three young children - Sam (nine), Chloe (six) and Jack (two) and, following the news of his death, the Club received many messages of sympathy and financial donations for the benefit of Ian's young family.

An online auction for a matchday mascot package also helped to raise a substantial sum, and various other fund-raising events and ideas have been organised to help ease the financial burden on Michelle and the children in the future.

Michelle Jackson, her children and respective families have now asked us to pass on their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming kindness, generosity and support they have been shown during this difficult time by the players, management, staff and supporters of West Ham United Football Club.
