HAMMERS Under-18s secured their first win of the season in the
Premier Academy Under-18 League with a 2-0 win at Cardiff City.
Tony Carr's team put on a fine display to earn their first
three points of the season, with a goal in either half seeing off
the Bluebirds.
After showing plenty of attacking promise in the early stages,
Hogan Ephraim put West Ham United 1-0 up on 20 minutes. The striker
capitalised on a defensive mistake before rifling a low shot past
the Cardiff goalkeeper.
Despite a dominant performance it was not until the 87th minute
that Hammers wrapped up the points, substitute Zavon Hines pouncing
on a loose ball and firing across the goalkeeper into the far
corner of the net to secure a 2-0 victory.
WHU: Blackmore; Henry, Andrews, White, Tomkins, Cowley, Reid,
Collison, Jeffery (Hines 71), Ephraim, Welsh (Hales 80).
