WEST Ham United supporters who travelled to the Stadium of Light
for the recent 1-1 draw with Sunderland have won praise for their
behaviour at the match.
Prior to the game Hammers fans had been the subject of reports on
the problem of persistent standing at matches, and as a result had
suffered reduced allocations at some grounds.
However, the Safety Manager at the Stadium of Light, John Davidson,
had nothing but praise for the behaviour of West Ham United
supporters on their recent visit to the North East.
Mr Davidson wrote: "My thanks to the West Ham United fans.
Prior to the game a potential problem of persistent standing by
Hammers fans had been identified.
"They responded well to the stewards' instructions and sat
for the majority of the game. Such co-operation is greatly
appreciated and I look forward to more West Ham United fans
attending in the future."
West Ham United would like to thank its supporters for their
continued co-operation on the issue of standing at matches both
away from home and at Upton Park.
