Ladies Unlucky At Watford

WEST Ham United Ladies were unlucky not to have got at least a point away to Watford Ladies, eventually losing 2-1.

The Hammers more than held their own in the opening stages until a defensive mix up in the 18th minute allowed Watford in to open the scoring. The remainder of the half was fairly scrappy with not much further goal-mouth incident.

Hammers manager Kay Cossington made several tactical changes at half-time including changing the formation and this reaped dividends only eight minutes into the half when Lindsey Morgan levelled for the Hammers.

The move began with a cross from Aoife Aherne and was tapped on by Vicky Lewis and Lindsey fired home from close range.

There were further chances for the Hammers and an effort from Aoife Aherne hit the wood-work. However their hopes were dashed with ten minutes remaining when from a break down the left flank the home side grabbed the winner.

Next Sunday Crystal Palace are the visitors to Aveley and a win for the Hammers could see them move up to fourth place in the table.
