A YOUNG West Ham United Under-18 team went down 5-1 at Ipswich
Town.
Without several players due to international duty and a Reserve
team game on Monday the Hammers struggled in East Anglia. Tony Carr
handed debuts to young players Ben Hunt, Gary Bowes and Tom Harvey,
but despite a hard-working Hammers performance they were over-run
by a more experienced Ipswich Town side.
Ipswich took the lead from the penalty spot middway through the
first-half, but Hammers were quickly on level terms again thanks to
a goal from defender James Tomkins.
Unfortunately a slip by Tomkins moments before half-time let
Ipswich in again and they made it 2-1 just before the break.
HT: 1-2
After half-time it was all Ipswich once Zavon Hines had been sent
off on 64 minutes for two bookable offences.
The Tractor Boys added three more goals as ten-man Hammers chased
the game to seal a 5-1 defeat for West Ham United.
