WEST Ham United Ladies shrugged off the disappointment of a midweek
defeat and bounced back with a deserved 2-1 win against Brighton
Ladies at the Withdean Stadium.
The opening goal came from Vicki Bruce and the home side then levelled to send the teams in all square at the break.
But in the second-half Hammers turned on the style. A terrific
effort on goal by Kate Turney was handled in the penalty area by a
Brighton player and with this being a clear cut goal-scoring
opportunity the referee had no option but to issue a red
card.
From the penalty spot Sam Pittuck made no mistake and the Hammers
held on for a well deserved three points.
Next Sunday the Ladies face a very tough test when they take on second placed Watford away.

While the Reserves did not have a game the youth team had a convincing 4-0 away win against Queens Park Rangers in the Greater London Women's Regional League. Comprising of mainly Under-16 players the girls are competing in a senior league that not too many years ago was the home of the Hammers first-team. The goalscorers were Toni Smith, Kerry Jack, Abbie Page and Tanya Ambersley.
