Tackling For Charity

MISSING tackles in the final third is a big no-no in Alan Pardew's book, but when one of his players does rashly go to ground, there are some very worthy beneficiaries.

Pards has put in a system of fining players for missed tackles at Chadwell Heath, with the money going to help Great Ormond Street Hospital.

"In training we fine players for missing tackles in the final third," said Alan, "with the money going to Great Ormand Street Hospital."

"It's £50 a tackle. The last ones to pay up were Yossi Benayoun and Nigel Reo-Coker last week."

"If you go to ground and miss the tackle, that's finable in my opinion, especially in the final third!"
