Ladies Record First Home Win

WEST Ham United Ladies celebrated their first home win of the season with a resounding 4-0 victory over Langford FC.

The Hammers were honouring goalkeeper Claire Lacey who was making her 300th appearance for the club and Kate Fanning was playing her 200th game.

For Claire Lacey it was a good day to reach a milestone as there was very little goal-mouth incident for her to deal with.

A day of celebration was marred in the early stages when West Ham defender Kerry Stimpson was badly injured and had to be stretchered off.

The Hammers went on to create chance after chance in the first-half and the breakthrough eventually came when Vicki Bruce, playing as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation put the Hammers into the lead.

In the second-half a superb volley from Sam Pittuck put the ladies into a two goal lead and the game was put well beyond the visitors reach when Vicki Lewis scored to make it 3-0.

A late strike from Vicki Bruce made it four but it was a game that the Hammers could easily have won by a more convincing margin.

With the team in a confident mood they now face two difficult away games when they visit Millwall Lionesses this coming Thursday at Dulwich Hamlet FC followed by a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium next Sunday.
